All Lessons and Activities are led by qualified RDA group instructors  overall are a friendly approachable group aimed at providing the experience of riding our horses & ponies in an enjoyable environment.

The Benefits and advantages of the RDA

Medical professionals recognise that there are significant therapeutic benefits for riders. The warmth and dimensional movements of the horse is transmitted through the rider’s body, gradually making the rider more relaxed, supple, reducing body spasms, improving balance, posture, co-ordination and strengthening core stability.

The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) have also taken out schemes to outline the therapeutic outcomes, highlights of the report show

  • 80% of riders experienced physical improvement
  • 90% demonstrate growing confidence & enjoyment
  • 82% demonstrate improvement in communication skills
  • Contributes to the improvement of a wide range of medical conditions
  • Brings a new dimension to restricted Lives

Within 4 month period of regular riding with the RDA activities, there are changes in six areas;

COMMUNICATION-CONFIDENCE-ENJOYMENT-RELATIONSHIPS-PHYSICAL CHANGES-HORSEMANSHIP

Volenteers

There are many volunteer roles at Cliffhollins RDA Centre. We are always looking for volunteers to help with the following: yard duties, horse care, leaders, side walkers.

All volunteers are encouraged to work towards a Green Card Certificate. All volunteers are requested to complete basic training and this is documented on an RDA Green Card. This is a declaration that you have been shown and understood the correct procedure to carry out tasks in a safe manner. Once your card is completed it will be sent to the RDA National Office and you will receive a certificate to show that your training is complete.
